The relationships children form are a key factor in the success of their learning journey. Our teachers and team members at Seashells are wonderful and amazing people, who have been selected based on their experience within the Early Childhood field, their professional knowledge of teaching and nurturing young children, and their philosophy of education and knowledge of child development. We value professional development, and encourage our team to participate in a variety of courses, in order to grow and keep up to date with new developments in the educational field.
Our partnerships with families are about learning, not only for children, but for adults. We learn about other people, other cultures and other values. We learn about acceptance, tolerance and diversity, therefore an early childcare centre is an educational place in the widest sense. Te Whāriki encourages and reflects the idea of partnership and we are drawn to the Whakatauki – Whakatepea to ko, kit kotahi which translates as “We are in this together”. This sums up what partnership is about, there is a belonging, a shared identity, a common path which is what we aim for when working with our families.
We encourage you to pop into the centre for a visit, and meet our wonderful teaching team!
